Master Point Press and COVID-19

With tournaments cancelled and local clubs shut, the bridge world is in disarray. But many organizations are doing what they can to help — the ACBL for example is putting more resources into online bridge and donating most of the entry fees to local bridge clubs. Baron Barclay has sent a free digital copy of Dorothy Truscott’s classic Bid Better, Play Better to their entire mailing list.

Our staff are safe — only one person is physically in our Toronto office, while everyone else is working from home. At the moment, our Georgetown warehouse is still operational, and we are still able ship books to the USA, but of course we do not know how long this will be the case. If the staff at GTW are felt to be in danger, I would assume they will close until it is safe to reopen; if that happens, we’ll let our customers know immediately. Even then, many of our titles are printed locally around the world, and they should still be offered through mail-order outlets such as Amazon, Chess & Bridge UK, AB Svenska, The Bridge Shop (Sydney) and others.

Meanwhile, our ebooks are still available, and we’d like to do our bit to help entertain you, especially if you are in quarantine. Please feel free to download a complimentary ebook copy of Northern Lights. It’s a selection of articles from Canadian Master Point magazine, ranging from technical bridge advice to problems and humorous fiction — something for everyone, we hope. Enjoy, and stay safe!
